  It was a day that was filled with rain and the riders started on a rain-soaked track. Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia started from the first row. Many riders carrying injuries from the tumultuous first round at Portugal, there were only 17 riders for this race of the season. With Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini as their riders, the Mooney VR46 racing team, owned by MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, achieved their first victory. Italian rider Bezzecchi finished ahead of Frenchman Johann Zarco with Alex Marquez, who started on pole position, rounding out an all-Ducati podium. It was a triple win for Ducati.  Francesco Bagnaia, the defending champion who won in Portugal last week, unfortunately crashed with just 8 laps remaining. This cost him 20 points and he finished the race in 16th position.   If ever there were an inspiring story of perseverance and success in the world motorcycle sports, Francesc “Pecco” Bagnaia’s story would be often repeated long after he retired. Fondly nicknamed Pecco by his father, Francesco has been into autosports since a young age. And mind you, it has not been an easy road for him.
